Throughout the Saskatchewan NDP leadership race, one of the most notable omissions from any candidate's site was the absence of any listed endorsements for Yens Pedersen (even as his Facebook supporters numbered in the hundreds). Now, just in time for this weekend's convention, Yens Pedersen has unveiled an endorsements page which explicitly focuses on content rather than naming names (while hinting that "(s)ome of the authors are well-known people"). Ideally it would be a plus to see at least some indication of the type of team which Pedersen would assemble - but I've mentioned before the value of offering authentic opinions about why a candidate deserves support, and Pedersen looks to have done just that.
It looks especially noteworthy that the most frequently-cited theme in Pedersen's endorsements is his stance on nuclear power. With the issue in the news around the province over the course of the campaign and with the Sask Party's "consultation" meeting set for Regina tonight, that focus looks to make for a strong closing message for Pedersen's campaign - as well as positioning him to keep up the nuclear fight regardless of how the leadership race turns out.
