Selling the lie

Shorter Brad Wall:

Of course neither Stephen Harper nor any of his provincial mini-petro-states has any interest in actually dealing with climate change. But as long as we rev up our PR machine to claim otherwise, surely Barack Obama will be none the wiser.

  1. When a lake becomes unsafe to swim in and its marine life has excessive mercury in it, do we call it 'Water Change' ? No.. we say the lake became polluted.. and ideally we identify the polluters, the poison.. and start the clean-up.

Let's accept that pollution is affecting local climates ie weather, with a cascade effect then being set in motion globally. We're polluting the planet. So maybe we should call it Climate Pollution.. not Climate Change

    Things are connected.

When our PMO and federal government direct the Minister of Fisheries and Oceans to deny, suppress and obstruct science regarding infected farmed salmon, they are threatening the keystone species of wild salmon. First they will deny there is 'Marine Change' if that's what we call it.. ie collapse of the Pacific wild salmon.. and all the related species in the food chain. They'll just blame it on the 'Ocean Change'

Our federal and provincial governments are denying 'Boreal Change' but later on, they and clods like Peter Kent and Joe Oliver will embrace the term as far preferable to caribou herd collapse and poison tailings ponds or diluted bitumen pipeline disaster

Why don't we use the term 'Food Change' as a catch-all for Mad Cow Disease, Salmonella, parasites, Listeria, ISA infected salmon exports, E Coli, Botulism, ptomaine poisoning. I'm sure Gerry Ritz wishes he could.

Where is George Carlin when we need him.. to explain how adding 'Change' to any term or commodity or extinction is a nice soft way to mask or cover up the awful truth.

Maybe he'd say.. a change can be a good thing !
    Like 'Government Change'

Yesterday, while I was at work, my sister stole
my iPad and tested to see if it can survive a thirty foot
drop, just so she can be a youtube sensation. My iPad is now destroyed and she has 83 views.
I know this is completely off topic but I had
    to share it with someone!
