On first steps

It's undoubtedly great news to see that the NDP is making strides in its Quebec membership numbers even before its leadership campaign has started in earnest.

But it's worth being cautious about talk of tripling the party's membership from a base which had almost nowhere to go but up. And between the efforts of MPs to build their ridings and leadership candidates appealing to new NDP voters, we shouldn't consider it out of the question for the numbers to triple another couple of times over by the time the NDP's next leader is elected.

I believe you are totally incorrect, your major support is Quebec which means you will make policy to cater to Quebec which the rest of Canada will never support. NDP will not have to about the CPC it will be the Liberals that will be the alternative to the cons in the rest  of Canada.

Of course, the policies favoured by many in Quebec are exactly the ones the NDP has been promoting across the country. We'll have to see how it does in making the pitch to common social democratic values, but the NDP at least has a more cohesive message to bridge the gap between various provinces than, say, the Cons when they tried to make inroads past ten seats or so.
